Pretty good experience overall! It’s Beautiful, Great staff . We felt secure and valued. Highlights , the 481 in house restaurant ! Fantastic ( Guests get 20% discount) Bar staff all exceptional in fact all the staff were just great . Breakfast was outstanding. It’s a bit expensive drinks and room service ,food etc , but hey it’s Rome and four star so …. Low points ;Our room was a little tired looking but clean and adequate for our needs ! Beds were comfortable and what was with the 8:00 am marching band music from across the way !!!!! ( we think it’s a military or police establishment) was odd but not too annoying! They have events, seemingly quite often and the restaurant was unavailable to us on the first night .It’s a big hotel so if you have mobility issues definitely mention that when booking. Make sure you have bottles of water as that’s really expensive from the bar . There’s a market just 5 mins walk away ( To the main rd and left !) Thank you to all the staff at the Carpegna Palace they really helped make our weekend break special. We would definitely stay there again .

I was stunned by details in a hotel, we were nicely welcomed, great location out of the busy area, but close to Vatican and Trastevere. I would only let rooms in the attic to have a option to open the window.

The hotel is very nice and it has own garden. The rooms are large and good. All stafff here are very friendly and they are ready to help you in every matter of your concern . About breakfast …. This part of our accommodation was quite okay . Plenty of food and cereals , fruit and yogurts , too . The best part of my morning was their coffee…! I enjoyed a very good Italian coffee….Lavaza !!! Outside it looks great. Bar is very cool. Resaurant was nice and service at hotel was superior. Rooms are tired and small. Bed is hard and rooms were noisy. Would be nice to have a kettle and tea and coffee in our room. We didnt realise the hotel was so far from the tourist spots.

Decent hotel rooms and breakfast, but lacks basic grooming supplies

It was a large, nice looking hotel with huge layout in terms of lobby and common areas. The rooms were generally ok, just a bit small. The breakfast was decent and had a good variety, however the breakfast room was not air conditioned and seemed very hot. Location was near a metro station called Cornelia, which is very convenient to get to all the sights. This is particularly important, as Rome shockingly has practically no metro lines other than 2 or 3. Having been to other capitals like London, Paris and Berlin, which have at least a dozen or more metro lines serving every corner of the respective capitals, we were often stranded in very central places with no way back to the hotel or the nearest metro station without taking a taxi. Disliked: The rooms did not have shampoo, conditioner, or shower caps upon arrival. (But we got 2 little shoe sponges and ear cleaning buds) Generally, not one of the 4 Italian hotels we stayed at offered hair conditioner, which we eventually had to buy in a shop. My daughters’ room had “hand wash” installed in their shower cubicle, not even body wash. I had to call reception to get some shampoo for both rooms and body wash. There was no make up mirror. My room had no proper hair dryer, but something that looked like the hose of a vacuum cleaner. The air conditioning was not strong enough and we slept in sweltering heat of 25 degrees. Generally, all Italian hotels we stayed at were set to 24 or 25 degrees as the lowest point, which really doesn’t cut it for a comfortable night of sleep. The air con unit was positioned directly under the window sill, so all the cold air was blowing at the sill and behind the window curtains. So the actual room temp was more like 27 degrees. The check in took easily 25-30 min just for us, as the receptionist spent an endless amount of time with our passports and with the city tax. They weren’t particularly friendly.
